Jan 2011-Dec 2012 Hair. Can I do better?

My Mane!

*A quick summary of this picture timeline.*

I started my healthy hair journey in Jan 2011 after almost texturizing my hair! But thank God I went on You Tube first!

Jan 2011: Picture taken in Mississauga (Toronto) Canada, about two months before I went back to Beijing the Second Time. I decided to put myself on a 12 months hair growth challenge to see how much hair I can actually grow and retain in that year

August 2011: I did Kinky Twist from March-May (2months) and I played with weekly protective styling every week or other week after that. Picture taken in Beijing

April 2012: Since I have a slow hair growth coupled with dry and breakage prone hair, I usually don't do a quarterly length checks. Instead I'll take pictures when I notice a significant change in hair length since my previous length check. Here, I noticed my hair has finally grown past my nose and is now touching my lower lip!

Dec 2012: *Ignore the three different outfits with different hair textures, pictures were actually taken over a weekend. I just wanted to make sure I got the most accurate hair length ;). Now I'm back in Canada and I notice my hair has grown a bit more since I left China in July.

Can I do better? It's obvious I didn't have a smooth sailing and I have no one else to blame but myself!
But now I am SERIOUSLY putting myself on a SERIOUS "Hair Retaining Challenge" for the Year 2013. This challenge will be done in two phases on a biannual basis. The first phase will happen from January-June and the second phase will happen from July-December.

Future blog posts will explain more about this fun challenge

Till then!

  1. Your hair is growing. Have you figured out what is causing your breakage? That is key to hair retention.

    1. yes I have for a while now, but everything that I tried to prevent it didn't work. But I think I've now found some effective solutions. I'll be trying them out and posting their end results on here :)
