In my previous post, I blogged about my new found love for green smoothies, however last week, I decided to make a batch of smoothies without using any vegetable since I planned to eat green salads and incorporate a variety of vegetables to my meals during the week. So since I didn't want to "over-do" the whole healthy eating thing, I thought I should just make a fruit smoothie for the week.
So below are the 5 recipes for the smoothies I made last week.
Base Ingredients were: Green Tea, Jasmine Tea, Mango, Apple, Pineapple, Cantaloupe, Bananas, Avocado , Kiwis and Cinnamon
For taste and flavor, I use Organic Vanilla, Coconut Sugar, Honey and Flaxseeds
So I grabbed the cutting board, knife and I started peeling and cutting. After I was done, I took out the blender and got to blending. Being a mixtress as I am, I decided to to do a mix and match combo to get different flavours, color and taste. So below are the mixtures, but feel free to use whatever ingredient you may have on hand at home.
Jar #1: Jasmine Tea Multifruits Smoothie
1 slice of a mango
Kiwi
Avocado
Flaxseeds
Coconut sugar
Jasmine tea (I only used the tea, didn't use the leaves)
Cantaloupe Pineapple
*Made about 3.5cups
*Since I used so many fruits, I only used a little bit of each, but feel free to increase the portion to suit your needs.
Jar #2: Apple Smoothie
more pineapples,
cantaloupes,
avocados,
and kiwis to the mixture so I won't have to add any liquid
*Made about 3 cups
Jar #3: Cinnamon Smoothie
For a little energy boost, I sprinkled a little bit of cinnamon to the mixture I had left over from Jar #2 *Made about 3 cups
Jar #4: Green Tea + Romaine Smoothie
More cantaloupes,
few mango pieces,
more flaxseed,
honey,
coconut sugar,
romaine lettuce,
green tea and a little bit from Jar 3
I couldn't resist not adding a little bit of veggie to my smoothie. So I threw in some romaine lettuce into the mixture
Jar #5: Vanilla Banana Smoothie
I added about 1tsp vanilla and a banana to the left over from Jar 4
I apologize I completely forgot to take pictures of the finished products, I had drank about 3/4 of the batch before remembering. I'm still an amateur at this as you can probably tell.
Smoothies are great and simple ways to incorporate a variety of nutrients needed for the day and so I challenge you to start blending your favourite and may be not so favourite fruits and veggies together today!
Remember that healthy hair and body starts with a healthy diet.
