Lets Talk: Be CAUTIOUS of Online Natural Hair Tips and advice

As a Natural Hair blogger, I try to keep up with the information that are constantly thrown at us online. In the early stage of my healthy hair journey, I "absorbed" about 90% of the information that I came across online. This even resulted in me being a product junky, which is an inevitable phase of a newly natural. While some products turned out to be a miss, many also turned out to be a hit!
As a curious and educated person that I am, I made sure I cross-checked every information I found online with other websites to see if the latest "tip" was really beneficial and that it's in line with what other sources are saying.  However, it seems like not everyone does this because i've read comments by other Naturals who have had a product or technique mishap after ignorantly trying out a latest product or technique. For example, I once read about someone who directly applied an essential oil on their scalp, another also poured apple cider vinegar on their head without diluting it! As a matter of fact, just last night, I read about a natural raving about how soft and coily her hair felt after using an aphogee protein treatment! Her comment got other readers curious and interested as they expressed their intention to try the treatment. I was so alarmed by this that I didn't even know what to say! But I had to do something and vent somewhere, and so I left a "Natural Hair Tip of the Day" on my Facebook fan page to caution readers about what they read online.
See I was upset at this comment becaue protein treatments STRENGTHEN the hair and could make it feeling dry and brittle afterwards, this is why they have to be followed with a moisturizing treatment to restore the hair's elasticity and softness.

What is my point here?
My point is that, we need to be careful with what we read online and remember that what works for the majority might not work for you as a minority. Also, when you read a tip online, make sure you DOUBLE CHECK and cross reference the information with other sources to see if they agree with what other experts are saying.  Don't just take another person's review about something and run with it. For Black hair science, I recommend you follow Jc at The Natural Haven, where she explains trending techniques and haircare practices out there from a scientific point of view.

You can also check in with a Natural hair veteran like yours truly (me) to get their opinion, this is better than recieving conflicting responses from group forums online.
