My first hair meet up experience| Shakara Natural Tips

This past weekend being a long weekend to celebrate the civic holiday also turned out to be Caribana weekend, a weekend to celebrate Carribean culture. This means a weekend filled with many activities and festivals around the city and country. One of the event that was held this past weekend was Shakara Natural's hair workshop which took place at Toronto Harbourfront Centre's Island Soul Festival.

I first heard about Shakara Natural Tips through a volunteer ad on kijiji back in February where she was looking for volunteers for a hair meet up she was organizing around that time. Unfortunately, I couldnt attend the event as it clashed with my Cuba trip. Instead, I bookmarked her website for later knowing she's a fellow Canadian blogger, a Torontonian for that matter and also a Nigerian! So you could say that we have A LOT in common :) Sadly, I became extremely busy around that time and couldn't even keep up with my blogs, so I forgot to revisit her blog. Luckily, my schedule freed up a little bit at the begining of the summer and so I remembered to revisit her site and even joined her Facebook fanpage which I follow closely. This is also where I heard about the event.

As a curious person who is always open to learning, I ensured that I make it to at least one of the 6 workshops she had planned for the 3day weekend. Yemi of Shakara Natural Tips had two different workshops with a 30minute duration on all three days. One workshop was on hair loss while the other was on ways to reduce frizz. I only managed to attend the second workshop which I found to be interesting.
Items I bought from her stand: Roibos tea and Moroccan Rhassoul clay,
and she gave me the jam and cup for free!
The presentation was interactive, lively and multicultural! By multicultural, I mean people of all colours attended the workshop and even asked questions!
Thinking that I know all that there is to know about Natural haircare, I was surprised when she said that one could use Okra as a hairgel. After looking at some YT videos about it, I think I might give it a try someday.

Overall, I thought the workshop was informative and interesting and I would definitely attend a similar workshop or meet-up in the future or perhaps organize mine. Would you attend?
