HRC Style 4: Imperfect Triple Threat Patewo (up-do)

As you can tell by the pictures, I didn't do a good job with my hairstyle this time. I think I will slightly wet my hair next time so that  it would be easier to create a neat parting. See I prefer to work with stretched dry hair over coily wet hair because I don't have to worry about the hair coiling and shrinking back each time. I can also hear my hair when it's breaking but I can't hear it when it's wet.

The only down side is that dry hair has less elasticity than wet hair, so I have to be very slow and gentle when handling it, so I can reduce breakage. But looking at the amount of hairloss in the picture below, I think I'll experiment with slightly wet hair next time to see if I can reduce breakage and speed up the styling time.

Flat twists on one side, corn row on the other and single twists up front

Although I'm suppose to keep the style in for 2weeks, but since I didn't do a good job this time. I will only leave it in for about 5days and do another style afterwards. Plus my scalp is starting to get itchy, a common symptom with a style that exposes my scalp too much.
I wonder how my hair would turn out when I take out the style 5days later

I used a mixture of aloe vera gel & shea butter.
Breakage Galore! This is why I don't like delicate hairstyles, but then again, my hair doesn't like a lot of styles. And I refuse to loc it.

How are you wearing your hair this week?

  1. It doesn't look too bad. I do not think I would ever use extensions if my hair was longer. What do you do to reduce breakage?

    1. I plan to work with hydrated hair, which is hair that's been lightly misted, but not drenched. I'll see how it turns out.
