Length Check: HRC Phase 2 Results

After spending many weeks contemplating whether I should share these results or not, I am now finally putting these disappointing results out there. Its common for a lot of us to flock to Youtube to watch length check videos of women who have been very successful retaining a lot of growth within a short period of time. Sometimes these videos can be encouraging because it shows many that Black hair can grow when taken care of properly, it can also create a sense of resentment and envy when the viewer isn't achieving that level of success. I fall under the latter category, but instead of being ashamed of my slow results, I decided a long time ago to stop comparing my results with others and embrace my own success, no matter how small they are. Though I must confess that I get scissors happy, meaning I tend to trim/cut my hair more than 4 times a year :).

Eventhough I tend to retain length that's below average, I am not afraid to share my results because I know that there are many women out there who shares similar experiences but might be uncomfortable admitting it.
Do you do length checks? If so, how are your results usually like?

  1. First, your hair is pretty! Second, I agree with you that even though your results are not as expected, you should be able to analyse and share them if you want to. I cannot see a huge difference lengthwise but if you are cutting your hair often then you will be cutting off some of your progress too.

The important questions right now are what is your goal for your hair and what do you need to do to get there?

  2. I don't do length checks because I'm ALWAYS disappointed when I don't meet my goals.

I agree with Jc that the future is more important and you should focus on what needs to happen to get you there. Maybe trim less? That way you'll be able to see if you're cutting your progress off instead of just dead ends.
