Style n makeup is about 6hrs old :( |
Pinned hairstyles are stress free, predictable and guaranteed hairstyles in that there's no need to worry about shrinkage over the course of time. Neither do you have to worry about weather conditions such as the wind, humidity and other environmental factors that can mess up one's hairstyle. Pinned hairstyles can also be very quick and easy because all you need to work with are stretched hair and a few bobby pins. Depending on the occasion, you can jazz up the style with the addition of hair pieces such as a brooch or your choice of hair fascinator.
Another point i'd like to add is that pinned hairstyles are non discrimnatory because they suit all hair textures and length. So if you have type 1,2,3 or 4 hair, you can be assured that the style will turn out the way it's suppose to. This is good news for women with a rebelious hairtype like mine which doesn't hold "overnight" out styles like the ever so popular twist out and other famous natural hairstyles which only work for a few minority.
I was inspired by the hairstyle below, but instead, I got what you see above. The main reason for the stark difference in style is our hair textures. I also worked with dry hair, even though gels or styling creams would have produced a more similar hairstyle.

What are some of your go to hairstyles? Have you tried a pinned hairstyle? If so, how have they turned out?
I can't wait for my hair to grow long enough to get away with such minimal styling. I honestly do not see any difference between yours and the picture below. They both look beautiful and well tucked in.
ReplyDeleteThank you! But I still think you can pull off a similar style, you'll just need a lot of pins.
DeleteVery pretty and feminine. I usually wear two big flat twists and pin them together in the back. It turns out nice.
ReplyDeleteHey, you know I was inspired by your post on BGLH and I tried the chunky flat twists last Friday for the first time. It turned out great! I'll take pictures the next time I do them and share. I just like roll and tuck hairstyles because they don't require any special braiding skills, you only need lots of pins!
