I bet you never thought this popular hair moisturizing method can also work on the skin huh? Well, let me be the first to tell you that it works! Up until a few years ago, I would mix Vaseline with a thicker lotion in the winter time to help keep my skin velvety smooth. But since I no longer use Vaseline or any mineral oil or petroleum jelly based skin care products on my skin, I've had to search for healthy alternatives. I've played around with different soaps, creams and different concoction to help deal with the dryness on my skin, especially on my legs. I even tried drinking more water and eating healthier.

But then I suddenly had a light bulb moment when I thought of trying the LOC method on my skin to see if it will help. I first tried water, shea butter and lotion, but I wasn't happy with the results. So I substituted the water for glycerin and was very impressed with the results. Even in this extreme cold weather, my skin remains moisturized and smooth.

- Olive oil can be purchased from any food store
- Shea Butter can either be purchased from a health foods store or from any African store. Though I recommend the African store because it's cheaper and in it's purest form, you'll also be supporting a black owned business.
