It seems like my hair has a "biological hair trimming clock" for every quarter of the year. Although I rarely use any hair tool in my hair and i'm very gentle with it, I still find myself picking up a pair of scissors every 3 months for hair trims. When I refuse to give in, my hair starts to trim itself my tangling up with other strands of hair and then breaking off!

So, after being about two months late on my hair trimming schedule, I reluctantly grabbed my pair of scissors and got ready to trim those annoying and ugly ends.
After my long deep conditioning session, I decided to put my 2 combs which I haven't used in months to use.
I took small sections of hair, combed with a shower comb first and then combed the ends with the smaller teeth comb to get stretched ends. I then trimmed about 1/4-1 inch off.
About 3/4 were combed off with my small teeth comb. And so this is the main reason why I don't comb my hair, especially with a small teeth comb* |
The ends felt "magically" smooth the next day, although the hair had soaked up all the leave-in and already had a dry feeling by the next day. |
Hey sis,
ReplyDeleteTo avoid those tangles to start with, and to retain as much length as possible, keep your hair stretched. The "out" styles promote tangles and knots, so be mindful of that.
Keeping the hair stretched and wearing protective styles really keep the knots at bay.
Hi,
Deleteyes, I barely wear my hair out in an afro anymore. and my hair never achieve those "out" styles anyway, so I just wear pinned hairstyles most of the time my hair isn't in braids. we'll see how the ends pan out, now that it's been neatly trimmed.
My hair, like any other afro hair tends to coil with each other :(
Wow...cool blog. I found you through Oneika's blog...My daughter just did her first natural hair trim too...
