Natural Hair Book Review: Happy to be Nappy

Borrowed from the Toronto Public Library :)
I decided to launch this series with by starting from the base with this children's book called "Happy to be Nappy", a children's book illustrated by Bell Hooks and Chris Raschka. Rather than getting into the skin color or hair texture of the authors, I will instead focus on the book itself.

Year Published: 1999
Price: $15USD, $20CAD
Age group: Preschoolers

Book Review
Plus: very colorful and fun to look at. I like this book because it brings a special attention to the versatility and beauty of the beautiful coils on our little ones. I like the last two pages best because it shows the different hairstyles that a nappy hair can be styled in. I also like the snippet "Happy with locks that twist and curl" :).

Minus: Obviously this is a book for babies, but  I would have preferred the paintings to reflect actual and realistic hairstyles that the child can actually wear on her head. But overall, a great book for our little ones.
